Code of Conduct
- The Presenter should be briefed on the topic format and the clinical forum emphasized by the co-facilitator.
- A clinical review of the disease should be under-pinned by evidence-based medicine; no marketing (including logo’s) or personal opinions
- Clinical discussions should focus on appropriate drug class therapy options and preferably a Case Study presented.
- Virtual Continuing Professional Development events are co-facilitated, but the marketing of specific drug therapies will not take place.
- The Q&A following the presentation is designed to add further value to understanding the topic. Other issues raised can be discussed on another platform

Frequently Asked Questions
The PTCMA Programme Coordinator will circulate available dates around September/October for the next year.
Dates will also periodically be recirculated if there are slots available.
Members may also at any time email the PTCMA to request more dates, upon which the Programme Coordinator will share open dates or communicate with you to see if we can accommodate your request.
For enquiries, please email welcome@ptcma.org.za.
The PTCMA V_CPDs are accredited with the HPCSA through SAMA. Each session attended for at least 45 minutes awards attendees 1 CPD point.
The PTCMA takes responsibility for applying for the accreditation.
Attendance will be captured on the PTCMA Portal from where participants can download their certificates within 7 days.
For individuals registered with the HPCSA, we will be uploading the attendance directly to the HPCSA at the beginning of the month following sessions attended. They will receive confirmation emails from the HPCSA once their attendance has been uploaded.
Representatives from funding, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, as well as Medical Practitioners:

The sponsor may opt for having the session recorded.
- The recording will be edited to include the presenter introduction and to exclude the Q&A section, unless the sponsor requests that it is included, or the length of the presentation needs to be extended.
- An MP4 copy of the recording will be sent to the sponsor via WeTransfer - if this platform is blocked on the sponsor's side, or the format does not work, it will be resent as per the sponsor's requirements.
- The sponsor will need to review the recording and send approval to the PTCMA for it to be published on the PTCMA Portal.
- Once approved, the PTCMA will upload it to the Portal.
- If the sponsor opted for the recording with MCQs for CPD accreditation, the PTCMA will compile the MCQs and upload it to the Portal with the MCQs.
- A certificate of completion will be generated automatically for participants who completed the MCQs.
- The PTCMA will send notice to the HPCSA of participants who completed the MCQs every second month.
The sponsor MAY NOT publish the recording on a competing platform (e.g. EM Guidance, FPD, MPC, deNovo Medica, etc.) as there are complications with the CPD accreditation should you do so.
As far as we can see there does not seem to be a significant correlation between attendance and loadshedding.
Yes, the Cancellation Policy is stated in the Terms and Conditions and displayed below.
9. Cancellation policy:
In order to protect the income and reputation of the PTCMA against untimely cancellations, this Cancellation Policy applies to all sponsored PTCMA Continuing Professional Development events:
9.1 The Sponsor will be liable for the following fees upon cancellation or postponement of a PTCMA Continuing Professional Development event:

9.1.5 If an event is postponed a second time, regardless of how long in advance, this will be considered a cancellation and the postponed date will be considered a new booking. 9.2.1 It should be categorically noted that no such discretion will apply in the event of incomplete standard internal processes or contracts by the Sponsor;
9.2.2 The PTCMA respectfully requests that the Sponsor ensures that all its relevant internal processes are completed before the event invitation is distributed. Should this not be in place by a week before the scheduled event, the PTCMA reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event.
PTCMA is aware of recent security issues with this platform and reassure our members that we are taking every measure possible to keep our virtual meetings secure. As such, the following measures are in place:
- The PTCMA makes use of the paid service from Zoom with more advanced features
- We enforce encryption by default and make sure it's end-to-end if possible
- All delegates need to register for the meetings and are manually approved by the PTCMA host before receiving a link to join the meeting
- All meetings are password protected
- To ensure secure meetings, registration will close at 08h00 on the morning of the meeting with no new registrations being approved thereafter.
- Participants will also only be able to join the meeting until 10 minutes after the presentation has started. Thereafter the meeting will be locked and no new participants will be admitted.
- All users are held in a waiting room so the PTCMA to prevent unauthorised access
- We do not give access to “dial-in” participants
- Each join link will allow the user to join from only one device, so link-sharing will not be possible
- Only hosts and presenters will have the ability to share a screen.
- For those participants concerned about security, the option to join from the browser is enabled.
