The Organisation

The PCMA (Pharmaceutical Care Management Association) South Africa was formed in 1997 and was affiliated to PCMA of the United States, being the first organisation of its kind outside of the USA itself.
The structure of the organization has changed significantly since its inception and now provides an association for healthcare pharmacists and related healthcare professionals.
PTCMA (SA), as we are known now, is a section 21 company without share capital.  There are three types of membership:

  • Corporate members
  • Standard members
  • Individual members

The right to vote and serve on the executive committee is reserved for representatives form PTCMA members. Corporate members are encouraged to attend at least four ExCo meetings during the year.

Our Constitution

The PTCMA Constitution is a living document and aims to guide the management and control of the affairs of the PTCMA. Amendments to the Constitution may be made at a General Meeting in the first year of its application. A proposed change becomes effective immediately. Proposed changes will be carried if there is two thirds vote in its favour, counted out of voting members present, valid postal and proxy votes.

AGM

The PTCMA has an Annual General Meeting each year where we elect our new Executive Committee and report on everything that has happened in the year before.
