Our Mission
“To facilitate clinically relevant, evidence-based practice for optimal patient care and access to affordable medicine and technology, by providing continued professional development and healthcare education.”
Objectives and Continuing Education
Objectives:
- To encourage the understanding of evidence based medicine with an outcome in evidence based practice
- To provide a neutral network forum for stakeholders who have an interest in managed care principles and health economics
- To provide on-going educational programmes in the form of continuing professional development webinars and seminars and courses.
Continuing education:
The role of the healthcare provider is moving towards patient-orientated services, which form an integral part of managed care. In order to meet these new challenges, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, in all facets of the industry, will need to acquire new skills to develop certain capabilities. The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme covers clinical conditions, pharmacoeconomics and “hot topic” industry issues with a strong focus on evidenced based medicine and managed care principles.
The PTCMA has a working relationship with the Department of Health and a number of academics. Throughout the year the association co-hosts seminars and workshops in related subjects. Certificates of attendance/competence are issued appropriately. Other healthcare professionals join these CPD meetings to maximise the opportunity of: “reading off the same page” with the ultimate aim of patient care in health care delivery. The PTCMA has formed a commitment with the Department of Health to develop Public / Private Relationships which are forged in the education arena.
